Apparently, “the tone” of the new Daredevil will allow for a Deadpool cameo

The original Daredevil show on Netflix was one of the grimmer Marvel TV series we’ve seen. Daredevil, aka Matt Murdoch is tortured, both emotionally and physically, by guilt, supervillains and moral dilemmas. It was heavier than anything Marvel Studios has given us on Disney+, that’s for sure.

That Daredevil show was cancelled a few years back, but Charlie Cox will return as the blind superhero in a new Disney+ show, Daredevil: Born Again. But now that Daredevil is firmly under Disney’s roof, will he change? Disney doesn’t like its superhero shows to get too real, and Cox has indeed hinted at a “tonal shift” coming.

Cox continued to drop hints during an appearance at German Comic-Con, per IGN. “Because of the tone of our show, I think there’s a place for Daredevil to show up in Deadpool,” Cox said. “Would be really cool. Great, now that’s a news story.” He’s got that last part right.

So the suggestion here is that the tone of Daredevil: Born Again is close enough to Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool series that it wouldn’t be absurd for one to cross over with the other. The Deadpool movies are famous for their fourth wall-breaking jokes. Are we to expect a lot more wise cracking from Matt Murdoch when the new Daredevil show finally comes to Disney+?

Will Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page) and Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson) be in Daredevil: Born Again?

There’s still a lot we don’t know about Daredevil: Born Again. For instance, while Cox is returning, we don’t know if Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson will be returning as Karen Page and Foggy Nelson respectively. Those two characters were crucial to the original Daredevil show, but who knows if they have a place under new Disney management? “I don’t know what’s going to happen with the other characters in the new show, but I know for a fact that Elden and Deborah were the heartbeat(s) of what we did before, and the show is a success because of them,” Cox said, per Gizmodo.

We are hearing of some new additions to the cast, however, According to Deadline, Cox will be joined by actors Michael Gandolfini (son of James), Margarita Levieva and Sandrine Holt, all of whom will be playing “major roles.”

But the specifics will have to wait. Daredevil: Born Again is due out sometime in 2024.
