No, Shadow and Bone season 2 isn’t coming out on Netflix in January

The second season of Shadow and Bone is on the way…but when? We know that Netflix will be airing more episodes of this fantasy drama, but the exact date is up in the air.

However, a rumor got started when star Archie Renaux, who plays Malyen “Mal” Oretsev, appeared on the cover of Wonderland magazine. Founder Huw Gwyther shared an image of the cover on his Instagram, along with a very interesting caption:

Gwyther says that Shadow and Bone “returns to @netflix in January.” Say what?

First things first: Huw Gwyther is not right about Shadow and Bone season 2 coming out in January of 2023. Archie Renaux himself confirmed that this wasn’t true on Twitter:

Sometimes information on Instagram isn’t true. I know, I’m shocked, too.

So when is the second season of Shadow and Bone coming out? We know it’s coming out in 2023, but we don’t know exactly when. But when it comes out, we’ll be here ready and waiting to watch and review it. Odds are it’ll be out sometime in the middle of the year.
