Did HBO reveal the Jon Snow sequel show at the Game of Thrones Official Fan Convention?
By WiC Staff
This past weekend marked the first ever Game of Thrones Official Fan Convention. Guests included House of the Dragon veterans like Paddy Considine and Steve Toussaint as well as Game of Thrones alumni like Kristofer Hivju and Kristian Nairn.
But the guest of honor may have been Kit Harington, who played Jon Snow for all eight seasons of Game of Thrones. Harington has been watched closely lately, ever since the news broke that he’s helping HBO develop a Game of Thrones sequel series about his character. At the moment, it’s simply called Snow.
HBO has not greenlit the sequel show yet. Some fans hoped that they would use the convention as an opportunity to do so. So what happened?
Kit Harington did not announce the Jon Snow show at the Game of Thrones Official Fan Convention
Unfortunately, we didn’t get anything like an official announcement. If HBO has greenlit Snow, Harington isn’t saying.
That said, he’s clearly thought about what Jon Snow went through after the end of Game of Thrones. “At the end of the show when we find him in that cell, he’s preparing to be beheaded and he wants to be. He’s done,” the actor said. “The fact he goes to the Wall is the greatest gift and also the greatest curse.”
"He’s gotta go back up to the place with all this history and live out his life thinking about how he killed Dany, and live out his life thinking about Ygritte dying in his arms, and live out his life thinking about how he hung Olly, and live out his life thinking about all of this trauma, and that…that’s interesting."
Will some of those ideas make their way into Snow, should it ever come to pass? We’ll have to wait and see. With House of the Dragon a big success, I wouldn’t be surprised if HBO tried its luck with another spinoff.
