Last week, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Wonder Woman 3 would not be moving forward under the new regime at Warner Bros. Discovery. Since that report, speculation has run rampant that director Patty Jenkins left the movie after the studio rejected her ideas for the project. On Tuesday, Jenkins took to Twitter to address the rumors:

"When there started being backlash about WW3 [Wonder Woman 3] not happening, the attractive clickbait false story that it was me that killed it or walked away started to spread. This is simply not true. I never walked away. I was open to considering anything asked of me. It was my understanding there was nothing I could do to move anything forward at this time. DC is obviously buried in changes that are having to make, so I understand these decisions are difficult right now."

Jenkins also talked about her love of Wonder Woman as a character, and thanked everyone involved with making the first two films happen, as well as the fans.

Could Patty Jenkins return to Star Wars to direct Rogue Squadron?

As for what’s next, it seems like Jenkins is interested in getting back on board her Star Wars movie Rogue Squadron. Earlier this year, it seemed like Disney had shelved Rogue Squadron, as it did not appear on their release schedule at the D23 expo in September. But according to Jenkins’ statement, she only left the movie in the first place because she was busy with Wonder Woman 3, and that’s not an issue anymore.

"I originally left Rogue Squadron after a long and productive development process when it became clear it couldn’t happen soon enough and I did not want to delay WW3 any further. When I did, Lucasfilm asked me to consider coming back to RS after WW3, which I was honored to do, so I agreed. They [Disney] made a new deal with me. In fact, I am still on it and that project has been in active development ever since. I don’t know if it will happen or not. We never do until the development process is complete, but I look forward to its potential ahead."

D23 was back in September, before James Gunn and Peter Safran were announced as the new heads of DC Studios. Now that Wonder Woman 3 is out, Jenkins may return to Rogue Squadron.
