2022 was a great year for television, and we have so much to look forward to in 2023. Two weeks into the new year and we’ve got our first event television series to tune into every Sunday night: The Last of Us. Though it probably won’t do House of the Dragon numbers, we’re expecting the highly anticipated video game adaptation to be popular. And for good reason; the show is fantastic! There’s no doubt it’ll be another win for HBO.
The Last of Us follows Joel (Pedro Pascal), a father who’s lost his family after a zombie outbreak. In his new normal, he’s tasked with protecting a teenage girl named Ellie (Bella Ramsey), someone we discover early on is a very important asset in the post-apocalyptic world. Supporting cast members include Gabriel Luna, Merle Dandridge, Anna Torv, Nick Offerman, Melanie Lynskey, and others.
The big premiere will no doubt inspire a lot of social media buzz. If you happen to be planning a watch party and want to know how long you’ll be seated for the first episode of The Last of Us, here’s what you need to know.
The Last of Us Episode 1 (premiere) run time
The first episode of The Last of Us will be released at 9:00 p.m. EST this Sunday, January 15. It’s a supersized episode, coming in over the hour mark and then some. According to HBO’s schedule, the episode, titled “When You’re Lost in the Darkness,” will run for one hour and 25 minutes.
