Get ready for your next obsession, because The Last of Us is almost here. The highly anticipated adaptation of the best-selling video game of the same name premieres tonight on HBO, and having already seen the premiere, I know viewers are going to absolutely love this show. Our favorite fictional father figure Pedro Pascal stars as Joel, who forms an unlikely bond with a teenager named Ellie, played by fellow Game of Thrones alum Bella Ramsey. If you’re feeling zombie fatigue over The Walking Dead and its spinoffs, don’t worry. This is so much better.
It’s taken a long time for The Last of Us franchise to get here after multiple failed adaptations, but I’m sure fans of the game will agree that the show is worth the wait. The series was created by Craig Mazin, the guy who made HBO’s Chernobyl; and Neil Druckmann, who created The Last of Us game. The story’s in good hands and I can’t wait to see how people react to the first episode! There are only hours to go now.

Tonight’s premiere is going to be a supersized episode as we’re introduced to Joel and his family and learn a bit about the post-apocalyptic world where he lives. Pedro Pascal is one of my favorite actors working today, and he does a fantastic job bringing such a beloved video game character to life.
