Warner Bros. Discovery owns both Game of Thrones and DC Studios, and they know how to cross-market.

So far as live-action DC movies go, Shazam! was received pretty warmly back when it came out in 2019. The movie about a young boy — Billy Batson — gifted with superhuman powers by a wizard was a little lighter than DC’s normal fare. And it looks like the sequel will serve up more of the same.

In Shazam! Fury of the Gods, the Daughters of Atlas — who include Lucy Liu and Helen Mirren — come for Billy and his friends for they see as misappropriation of their gifts. As you can expect, things get heated, battle is joined, and there’s even a dragon ridden:

That leads to a cute little Game of Thrones when Billy slams into Lucy Liu’s Kalypso as she rides atop that dragon, shouting, “Hey, Khaleesi” as he does so. “Khaleesi” was one of the many titles of Daenerys Targaryen, the dragon-riding Targaryen princess from Game of Thrones.

Honestly, Billy seems a little young to be watching Game of Thrones. But I guess if he’s old enough to take on figures of Greek myth, then he’s old enough to watch Daenerys Targaryen emerge from the fire. Shazam: Fury of the Gods releases in theaters on March 17.
