House of the Dragon and 5 HBO shows that definitely won’t be back in 2023

Was His Dark Materials canceled?
If the third season of His Dark Materials felt like it brought finality to the show, that’s because season 3 was the final season of the HBO hit series. The series finale of the show aired Dec. 26, 2022, bringing an end to the HBO original drama based on Philip Pullman’s hit book series.
Each of the show’s three seasons was based on one of the there books in the His Dark Materials trilogy. Season 1 covered the events of The Golden Compass, season 2 followed the events of The Subtle Knife, and season 3 adapted the story of The Amber Spyglass which was the final book in the series.
While HBO could have opted to expand the story beyond the third season and the final piece of source material from Pullman, it instead opted to stick to its original plan of telling a complete adaptation of the books. It’s a move that fans should be able to appreciate as we’ve seen how terribly wrong a show can go once it decides to veer away from the source material. Don’t believe me? Just ask Game of Thrones fans how they feel about the final season…
Is Euphoria season 3 coming in 2023?
2023 will be bringing back a number of beloved HBO shows, but one we know for certain won’t be coming back this year is Euphoria. That’s right, the wait for new episodes of HBO’s Emmy-nominated drama will have to wait until 2024 as the hit series is not expected to be coming back this year.
Although the hit series has been renewed for a third season, production on season 3 of Euphoria is not slated to begin until sometime in February 2023. Given it took nine months for HBO to produce the show’s second season, it’s looking incredibly unlikely we’ll be seeing the show return this year.
What is more likely to happen is that the series will film through the summer, post-production will be completed in the fall, and the show will be ready to return sometime in early 2024. In fact, it seems quite possible we could see Euphoria season 3 arrive as early as January 2024 which would give HBO a major series to kick off the new year.
