They say that politics makes strange bedfellows. I don’t know what Twitter makes, but it’s definitely weird.

This story involves two unlikely parties: first, Adrianne Curry, who won the first-ever season of America’s Next Top Model back in 2003. Second: Melanie Lynskey, the New Zealand actor currently playing ruthless revolutionary leader Kathleen on HBO’s zombie drama The Last of Us.

How do these two come to interact? Well, Curry saw a picture of Lynskey online, and thought she would…criticize the actor for not having the right kind of body to play a leader in the post-apocalypse? “Her body says life of luxury…not post-apocalyptic warlord,” wrote Curry, digging her own grave with record-setting speed. “Where is Linda Hamilton when you need her?”

Linda Hamilton, by the by, is an actor best known for her lead performances in the first two Terminator movies, which were set before the apocalypse, but whatever. She was known for her athletic physique, so…I guess Curry is suggesting that Lynskey should have hit the gym? I’m trying here.

Anyway, Lynskey found the tweet and fired back:

"Firstly- this is a photo from my cover shoot for InStyle magazine, not a still from HBO’s The Last Of Us. And I’m playing a person who meticulously planned & executed an overthrow of FEDRA. I am supposed to be SMART, ma’am. I don’t need to be muscly. That’s what henchmen are for"

And that has been your weird semi-internet feud for the day. You can see more of Lynskey in tomorrow’s new episode of The Last of Us. She also stars in the Showtime series Yellowjackets. You can see more of Curry on Twitter.

Update: Adrianne Curry deactivates her Twitter account

Or actually, no you can’t, because Curry has deactivated her Twitter account. As she explained on her Facebook:

"In criticism of a character I didn’t like in the last of us..the actress screen shotted it and posted it for her fans to BULLY me over an opinion on a FICTIONAL CHARACTER. LOL.Actors and actresses that cannot take criticism of characters they play Is absurd to me. I acted in a film that people tore my character to SHREDS. I am not the character. It wasn’t a direct attack. I survived.Anyway, I’m keeping off Twitter till her fans stop berating me for not finding her feminine stature suitable for warlord status. She even cropped out the tweet where I praised her hourglass frame as the PERFECT body in the eyes of most men. Now, I think I’ll keep my NERD movie/show criticism to myself. These people take it too personally"

Interesting. While it’s definitely true that people online take stuff too seriously, I don’t think Curry is being completely fair or honest here. So it’s okay for Curry to criticize Melanie Lynskey’s looks, but when Lynskey argues back on Twitter, that an example of her being unable to “take criticism”? Why is one okay and the other isn’t?

But on the other hand, I am sure Curry was deluged with angry all-caps tweets from people only half-familiar with the situation, and that’s lame. But back on the first hand, how would you say harebrained stuff like this in a public forum and not expect a reaction?

Anyway, thus concludes the Next Top Model vs The Last of Us Twitter drama…probably…
