Jenna Ortega has taken the world by storm as Wednesday Addams in Netflix’s Wednesday. We simply can’t get enough of her stoic, blank-look angry face! But before she was playing Wednesday, Ortega starred as Ellie Alves in You season 2.

If you recall, Ellie was one of the very few characters who didn’t fall victim to Joe Goldberg’s (Penn Badgley) murderous shenanigans. In fact, the two remained in contact (as we learned in season 3) and Joe was even sending her money.

Given that connection, the producers on You were pretty set on bringing back Ortega for the fourth season (Part 1 is now streaming on Netflix). However, there were scheduling conflicts due to Wednesday’s production schedule.

But that doesn’t mean we won’t see her ever again, according to showrunner Sera Gamble.

Jenna Ortega was supposed to be You season 4, but then Wednesday happened

Speaking with Indie Wire, Gamble revealed that Ortega was indeed part of their plans for You season 4. “We wanted to bring Ellie back and we heard, ‘Oh, Jenna is doing some show.’ It’s been just such a pleasure to see Jenna this year. We have ideas for Ellie if her schedule allows her to visit us again.”

Given the worldwide success of Wednesday, who knows what Ortega’s schedule will look like in the future? Hopefully there is time for at least a small cameo for You’s fifth and final season. That would be wonderful!

That said, Ortega has a lot of stuff in the pipeline. Up next, she will be seen reprising her role as Tara Carpenter in Scream VI. She also has three other films in development while she works on Wednesday season 2. Joe Goldberg might have to take a permanent backseat.

But back on the other hand, in 2019 Ortega told Teen Vogue that she would love to come back as Ellie in You. “It would be amazing to see Ellie come back and take control of her life,” Ortega said. “I just want her to be an even bigger badass. I don’t want her to come back and be extremely vulnerable and sad. We have to remember that even though people still find Joe somewhat charming, he’s evil, he does terrible things, and he gets away with them because of his gender and race and his position in society. [Ellie] has so much potential and so much talent that she shouldn’t waste because of him.”

Preach, Jenna Ortega, Preach!

Fingers crossed we will see Ortega pop up as Ellie in the final season of You. But if not, you can get plenty of Jenna Ortega content over the next few months (and years) as she is not going anywhere.

Next. Con of Thrones returning for 2023!. dark
