Top 13 couples on House of the Dragon, from most screwed up to least

7. Daemon Targaryen and Laena Velaryon
One more of Daemon’s relationships for the road: after things with his underage niece didn’t work out, Daemon married Laena Velaryon, the daughter of his old war buddy Corlys Velaryon. We catch up with them years later when they’re living in Pentos and raising a pair of twin daughters.
Daemon and Laena seem to have a more or less functional relationship, although by no means perfect. Daemon is kind of distant from his kids, especially Rhaena, and makes eyes at serving boys. He’s still hung up on Rhaenrya, which has kept his relationship with Laena from becoming a truly strong partnership that can last them the rest of their lives.
Still, they seem to understand and respect one another, and have raised a pair of good kids. At the least, neither party is violent towards and other, nor do they loathe each other, which on this show means their relationship merits a middle-of-the-road placement.
6. Jacaerys Velaryon and Baela Targaryen; Lucerys Velaryon and Rhaena Targaryen
It’s barely correct to say that this quartet of characters are even in relationships. Their parents and grandparents got together and decided that it would be politically advantageous for them to marry each other: Jacaerys Velaryon to Baela Targaryen and Jace’s brother Lucerys Velaryon to Rhaena Targaryen.
But you know what? The fact that they haven’t gotten a chance to spend much time together as coupes means they haven’t had a chance to treat each other horribly, which seems to happen on this show whenever two people are left alone for a long enough period of time. Plus, they all seem like nice kids. They grew up together so they know one another already. Who knows? Maybe it’ll work out.
Well, maybe the one couple will work out. After the events of the season 1 finale, Rhaena may have to go looking for a new beau…
