As we all know, Stranger Things will come to an end with its upcoming fifth and final season. It’s hard to say goodbye, especially to a show this beloved. Luckily, the end is not here just yet, as season 5 probably won’t release on Netflix until at least 2024.
While talking to Discussing Film, David Harbour reflected on the upcoming final season and how he feels about the end. Is he ready for it? Or does he think it is due time to say goodbye?
Harbour has a hectic filming schedule ahead of him this year, and one of the things he’s most excited for is filming the final season of Stranger Things. “I’m feeling exhausted already,” he said. “I feel like I need a nap. Just thinking about the year, it’s going to be crazy. It’s nothing like I’ve ever done before. You know, Stranger Things had to go. We have to get going because the kids are growing up, we got to shoot this thing!”
David Harbour (Hopper) thinks it’s time for Stranger Things to end
Harbour also mentioned that when the series first began, he “never ever wanted it to end.” But that mindset changed after filming a few seasons.
“Now we’re almost nine years from filming the first season, and I think it is time for it to end,” Harbour said. “But it is, of course, very bittersweet. You know, there’s a sadness there. But also, we’ve all grown up. It is time for us to leave that nest and try other things and different projects. And to let the Duffer Brothers try different things as well. I mean, those guys are so talented. I want to see what they come up with next. So, it is bittersweet but it’s definitely time.”
All good shows know when to end and call it quits, and I think Stranger Things is doing just that. It’s riding out on a high. I couldn’t be more excited for the final season and to see what the talented cast and crew do next. I think David Harbour, along with everyone else, has a very bright future ahead of them!
There’s no release date for Stranger Things season 5 yet, but we’ll be all over it when it’s revealed.
