STAR WARS JEDI: BATTLE SCARS by Sam Maggs — March 7

Stepping away from fantasy for a moment, let’s head to the galaxy far, far away. Sam Maggs’ Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars is a tie-in novel about Cal Kestis, the scrappy Jedi at the heart of the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order video game. Cal is one of a handful of Jedi to survive Order 66.

In April we’ll see the epic chapter in Cal’s story with the release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, but before that we’ll get another new adventure with him in Battle Scars. Set between the events of Fallen Order and SurvivorBattle Scars will bridge the gap between the two games, exploring how Cal is thrust into the events of the highly-anticipated sequel.

THE MIMICKING OF KNOWN SUCCESSES by Malka Older — March 7

While it’s nice to be on the edge of your seat, not everything needs to be so intense. The Centenal Cycle author Malka Older’s new novel The Mimicking of Known Successes is a “cozy Holmesian murder mystery” and sapphic romance story set on Jupiter. And honestly, we’re kind of sold just from that short description alone.

On a remote, gas-wreathed outpost of a human colony on Jupiter, a man goes missing. The enigmatic Investigator Mossa follows his trail to Valdegeld, home to the colony’s erudite university—and Mossa’s former girlfriend, a scholar of Earth’s pre-collapse ecosystems.

Pleiti has dedicated her research and her career to aiding the larger effort towards a possible return to Earth. When Mossa unexpectedly arrives and requests Pleiti’s assistance in her latest investigation, the two of them embark on a twisting path in which the future of life on Earth is at stake—and, perhaps, their futures, together.
