2. Sheepstealer

In the season 1 finale of House of the Dragon, Daemon mentions there are three wild dragons living on the island of Dragonstone. One of these beasts is a mud-brown male dragon named Sheepstealer, so named because he likes the taste of mutton.

This dragon supposedly hatched on Dragonstone during the reign of King Jaehaerys I Targaryen, the guy on the throne before Viserys, and remained riderless for several decades…until the Dance of the Dragons. As the war rages, Jacaerys Velaryon realizes that his mother Rhaenyra has many dragons at her disposal but nobody to ride them. He hatches a plan to offer lands and riches to individuals willing to attempt mounting one of these dragons.

This becomes known as the Sowing of the Dragonseeds. It’s an important part of this story and we’ll most definitely see it in season 2. One of the people to respond is a young girl named Nettles. After several people die or are maimed trying to tame Sheepstealer, Nettles bonds with the beast by leaving a freshly killed sheep out for him every morning. Nettles and Sheepstealer then participate in the Battle of the Gullet and the capturing of King’s Landing, which we’ll most likely see during season 2. And they do more together after that.

Nettles is a fun character the show would be foolish to pass up. In a show dominated by lords and ladies playing their games on high, it’ll be refreshing to see a young peasant girl bond with her very own dragon.

3. Tyraxes

Joffrey Velaryon is the third child of Rhaenrya Targaryen and Laenor Velaryon (actually Ser Harwin Strong). In the picture above, he’s the little kid in the lower right. He is bonded with the young dragon Tyraxes. Although Joffrey and Tyraxes will likely be too small to fight in season 2, Tyraxes is large enough for the boy to ride in Fire and Blood. With the war raging and Dragonstone being relatively close to the conflict, Jacaerys eventually sends his younger brother to the Vale of Arryn where it’s hoped he can ride out the conflict under the watchful eye of Lady Jeyne Arryn. Their cousin Rhaena Targaryen, Daemon’s daughter by Laena Velaryon, accompanies Joffrey on this journey. When Rhaenrya recaptures King’s Landing, Joffrey returns to her on Tyraxes and the lizard makes a lair in the Dragonpit.
