We’re almost to the finale of The Last of Us season 1, and it looks like it’ll be another intense episode. The live-action adaptation of the Naughty Dog video game of the same name has been incredibly successful for HBO, receiving critical acclaim and attaining impressive viewership numbers. This is without a doubt the first great show of 2023, starting off the year on a high note. But now, it’s almost time to say goodbye to the series for the time being, with Episode 9, “Look for the Light,” premiering this Sunday night.
Last week’s episode was another great one, focusing on a group of cannibals whom Ellie (Bella Ramsey) runs into while trying to keep Joel (Pedro Pascal) alive. By the end, the two are finally safe again and can continue traveling to find the Fireflies. But of course, we don’t expect them to conclude their journey without more complications.
There’s only one more episode left; how will it all come to an end? If you haven’t seen the short preview for The Last of Us Episode 9, watch it below:
Hoping the finale is a longer episode than in previous weeks? We come bearing bad news.
The Last of Us Episode 9 (finale) run time
The premiere of The Last of Us clocked in at one hour and 25 minutes long, which is unusually lengthy for an episode of TV. But the finale won’t be following suit, as the official run time, according to HBO’s schedule, is 46 minutes. That doesn’t seem like a lot of time, but I’m sure the episode is fantastic!
The conclusion to The Last of Us season 1 premieres this Sunday night at 9:00 p.m. EST on HBO and HBO Max. If you’re watching linearly on the HBO channel, there will be one encore showing of the finale at 9:46 p.m. EST if you miss it the first time. If you’re streaming the new episode on HBO Max, it’ll be available whenever you want to watch starting at the release time of 9:00 p.m. EST.
