Does Wonder Woman have a cameo in The Flash movie?
By Ariba Bhuvad
Things are getting out of control when it comes to The Flash movie. We already know all about the drama surrounding the film, including Ezra Miller’s legal/personal troubles. Despite that, DC/Warner Bros. is operating with full steam ahead as the movie prepares to release in theatres this June.
Given all the changes DC has made in the past few months, it’s shocking that this movie made the cut. But I guess that’s due at least in part to the stellar reviews the film has received from the higher-ups and critics who have watched it.
Amongst those talking about the film is Ben Affleck, who will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman one last time. He was recently on the Smartless podcast talking about his role in the film and how proud he is of the “best work” he’s done as the DC superhero.
Ben Affleck, Wonder Woman, and The Flash
Before we get into the details of what Affleck said, we want to warn you of potential spoilers coming your way. He gave away some things while on the podcast, so if you’re trying to keep away from any spoilers, this is your cue to come back later.
“I don’t wanna give a spoiler, but it was a scene where I get caught, I get saved by Wonder Woman during a conflagration with some bad guys,” Affleck said. “And she saves me by– I mean, I’m sure the spoiler, DC assassins are gonna get me, but […] she saves me with the Lasso of Truth. And so what happens is that Batman divulges some of his real feelings about his life and his work… I was like, ‘Wait a minute, I got it!'”
Wait, Wonder Woman?! What, she’s in the film, too!? Didn’t DC basically axe that movie franchise?
There’s a high probability that whatever Wonder Woman scene Affleck is talking about isn’t going to make the final cut, but it’s still bittersweet to know that she was in it.
It hurts my heart slightly to know what could have been, but I’m also optimistic that James Gunn and Peter Safran are making necessary changes to the DCEU. As fans, we’ve been asking for this for a long time, so now that it is happening, we must trust the process.
The Flash is directed by Andy Muschietti and will show Barry Allen (Miller) traveling back in time to alter events of the past. From what I understand, it is based on the comic series, Flashpoint, which caused a ripple effect in the DC universe because Barry meddled with a certain timeline.
I won’t say any more than that because I have a feeling people will want to be wowed and surprised by the magic of The Flash. I promise, even without Wonder Woman, you will love (hopefully) what is in store.
The Flash premieres in theatres on June 16, 2023.
