The Happy Medium: The Mighty Nein

Players and characters:

  • Ashley Johnson: Yasha Nydoorin
  • Taliesin Jaffe: Mollymauk Tealef
  • Sam Riegel: Veth Brenatto
  • Marisha Ray: Beauregard Lionett
  • Laura Bailey: Jester Lavorre
  • Travis Willingham: Fjord
  • Liam O’Brian: Caleb Widogast

Campaign Two, The Mighty Nein, follows eight adventurers as they explore Exandria and battle powerful forces. The characters are Caleb, Nott, Fjord, Yasha, Jester, Beau, and Molly.

The Mighty Nein basically takes what made Vox Machina such a hit and fine-tunes it. It isn’t as tightly structured as Vox Machina, but the character development and growth was unreal. It continued to showcase the talent of the cast and Matt Mercer’s insane range both as a DM (Dungeon Master, or the story teller) and voice actor.

The Best Critical Role campaign: Vox Machina

Players and characters:

  • Ashley Johnson: Pike Trickfoot
  • Taliesin Jaffe: Percival Fredrickstein von Musel Klossowski de Rollo III
  • Sam Riegel: Scanlan
  • Marisha Ray: Keyleth
  • Laura Bailey: Vex’ahlia
  • Travis Willingham: Grog Strongjaw
  • Liam O’Brian: Vax’ildan

Vox Machina was Critical Role’s first campaign. This time the group of adventurers are Pike, Percival, Scanlan, Keyleth, Vex’ahlia, Vax’ildan, and Grog, a group of unlikely heroes who become an unstoppable force against all odds.

When the campaign launched as a webseries back in 2015, its popularity helped spark a renewed interest in Dungeons & Dragons. Would-be dungeon masters could gain inspiration for how to use their creativity to create worlds and tell stories. The story and character development kept the audience invested.

With its Amazon Prime Video adaptation, The Legend of Vox Machina, Critical Role has acquired even more fans; there’s an adaptation of The Mighty Nein on the way too. As a D&D player myself, I look forward to both the weekly live episodes as well as what Critical Role as a whole does for the Dungeons & Dragons community.

Next. Let’s recap and review the first 3 episodes of Vox Machina season 2. dark
