James Gunn: Superman: Legacy is “quite different” from Guardians movies
By Ariba Bhuvad
James Gunn is all done writing the script for his upcoming Superman: Legacy film! At the moment, he is busy getting a casting list together.
At the same time, he’s also prepping to go on a worldwide press tour for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, his final film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Gunn talked about the tone of his new Superman film, and how his DC work is different from his Marvel stuff.
“I learned so much from making these movies,” Gunn said about working on the Guardians films. “But it’s not like ‘Superman’ is going to have exactly the same vibe as a ‘Guardians’ movie. It’s actually quite different.” I would hope so! The feel of both franchises is so different, even without us knowing what Gunn has written.
James Gunn teases his first Superman movie
That’s all James Gunn had to say about Superman: Legacy, so we’ll have to wait and see what he has up his sleeves. All we know so far is that Gunn’s movie will focus on a younger version of Superman and will not star Henry Cavill.
Following the Guardians press tour, Gunn will transition to his new role as the co-head of DC Studios alongside Peter Safran. In addition to Superman, the universe will also include feature films starring Supergirl, Batman and more! There are a lot of changes happening, but we must bear with it and trust that Gunn and Safran know what they are doing.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will release in theaters on May 5, while Superman: Legacy is slated for a July 2025 release.
