Whether it’s Marvel, DC, or even the Best Picture winner at this year’s Oscars, movies and shows that explore the multiverse are all the rage nowadays. And soon, season 2 of Prime Video’s popular superhero series Invincible will harness the infinite possibilities of the multiverse for itself. Prepare for the arrival of evil mastermind Angstrom Levy!

Invincible season 2 will continue the saga of Mark Grayson, aka Invincible, following the realization that his father Omni-Man was not the hero he once thought, but instead an agent of the Viltrum Empire tasked with conquering the planet Earth. Looking ahead to the new season, besides more action from outer space, we’ll be introduced to new big bad Angstrom Levy, who will leverage the multiverse to gather an army capable of killing Invincible.

“Some large or small aspect of Season 2 focuses on the Angstrom Levy character,” Invincible writer Robert Kirkman told Inverse. “He’ll be a new villain that comes into the series. And if you’ve read the comics, you’re aware of who he is and what his deal is. He’s a villain that has access to multiple dimensions, and so it’s another one of those dang multiverse things.”

If you’re wondering how Levy can amass an army powerful enough to take down Invincible, well, (SPOILER incoming), he gathers numerous Invincibles from across the multiverse and uses them to attack our Invincible. It’s a pretty chaotic battle.

As for whether Angstrom Levy’s storyline will remain faithful to the comics, Kirkman suggests that there are changes to the source material in the offing. “We do things in a different way [than the comics], so there’s a little bit of a unique flavor to what we’re doing.” This comes as no surprise; season 1 featured various differences from the comics as well.

The Invincible movie is still trickling along

It feels like forever since Skybound Entertainment announced it was developing a live-action Invincible movie. And things remain mostly quiet. But the project is still very much happening.

“We’re very excited about what’s going on,” Kirkman teased. “I wish I could say more specifically about it, but that time will come, and I’m very excited to get to that time because I hate answering questions in a very frustrating and vague way.”

Invincible season 2 doesn’t have a release date yet, but thanks to a teaser released earlier this year, we have confirmation that it will definitely hit our screens sometime in 2023. And for future seasons, the wait may not be as long.
