First look at Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson in Doctor Who season 14

It’s time to reboot Doctor Who again! This happens every so often, and this time there are a lot of eyes on the show. Not only will the next iteration of the series introduce the first Doctor of color — played by Ncuti Gatwa — but the whole thing is being managed by Russell T Davies, who brought Doctor Who back from the dead in 2005.

And before we get to Gatwa as the Fourteenth Doctor, we have a few specials starring David Tennant back in the role of the Tenth Doctor! Those are coming last this year, with season 14 proper starting in 2024.

It’s interesting times. And into those times the BBC has dropped a new look at Gatwa and Millie Gibson (who plays new companion Ruby Tuesday) in costume. It looks like they’ll be visiting the swinging ’60s:

Jinkx Monsoon will play “the Doctor’s most powerful enemy yet”

I’ll admit that all these shake-ups have me more interested in Doctor Who then I have been in a while. It also helps that the show is bringing on two-time RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Jinkx Monsoon to play “the Doctor’s most powerful enemy yet.”

I mean, the piano key lapels alone guarantee that I’m at least going to watch that episode. Those ’60s outfits for Gatwa and Gibson are pretty great too. I don’t know if the new season will be good but the costumes are popping off.

We still don’t have a firm release date for any of this, but will keep our ears to the ground.
