After playing Luke Skywalker in numerous movies throughout the Star Wars franchise, Mark Hamill has one of the most famous faces in Hollywood. Anyone would be starstruck upon meeting him… well, except for Andy Serkis (Supreme Leader Snoke), who didn’t even recognize him. Yikes!

A this year’s Star Wars Celebration event, Serkis recounted his rather embarrassing encounter with Hamill during a team meeting for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. “We were invited to a dinner, a kind of inaugural dinner. Everyone had been cast. It was the first time of gathering people together,” he said, per Digital Spy. “Someone who sat next to me said, ‘I’m such a big fan of your work, Andy.’ And I said, ‘Well, thank you very much. So what’re you doing here?” I think you can guess who that person was. Yeah, only Mark Hamill.”

"[Hamill said,] ‘No, I’m on the movie,’ and I said, ‘Oh, right, yeah, yeah. What’re you doing on the movie?’ And he says, ‘Well, I’m Mark.’ And I said, ‘Yeah, I know, but what’re you actually doing on the movie?’ And he said, ‘No, no. I’m Mark.’ And I said, ‘I know, but what’re you actually doing on the movie?’ And he said, ‘I’m Luke Skywalker!’"

That sounds perfectly awkward. No grudges have been held, however. They very much know each other now he won’t be making that blunder again. Here they are promoting Star Wars: The Last Jedi together:

Andy Serkis loved playing Kino Loy in Star Wars: Andor

Andy Serkis made his first appearance in the Star Wars franchise as Snoke in The Force Awakens before being killed off in The Last Jedi. He returned to the franchise to play Kino Loy in last year’s Andor series. We didn’t actually see Kino die in season 1, which suggests the possibility of a triumphant return in a future episode. And Serkis is open to it.

“Yeah, absolutely,” he told Collider. “I mean, if a character becomes popular, sure, sure. I seriously hope that is going to manifest because I really do love the character, and I love playing the character so much. He’s so complex and flawed and human and brave.”

Would you like to see more of Kino Loy? Andor season 2 is set to premiere in August 2024.
