With each passing season, Amazon Prime Video’s subversive superhero show The Boys seems to get more intense. In season 3, we bore witness to a disgusting superhero orgy and a superhero shrinking himself down to fit inside a man’s penis…I could go on. According to Antony Starr (Homelander), what we’ve seen so far is nothing compared to what’s coming. Yikes!

“There has to be a ceiling, but we can’t seem to find it,” Starr told Variety, adding that the show “somehow gets weirder and weirder and weirder.”

Starr also revealed that season 4 contains the most bizarre thing he’s ever had to do for the series. “I was looking at the person I was opposite, and I said, ‘What are we doing? I can’t believe this! I could have done anything else with my life, but here I am doing this?’ It was truly the most bizarre thing I’ve ever done.”

Looking to the comics, Homelander does some disgusting, disturbing, gruesome, unforgettable stuff that hasn’t made it to television yet. Most notably, fans are waiting for the moment in which he eats (yes, eats) a baby. Consider yourselves warned.

The Boys season 4 begins shooting in August

Before we see The Boys season 4, we’ll see the live-action spinoff series Gen V, about young would-be heroes attending a superhero college. Amazon is starting to roll out the marketing on that one:

Speaking to Variety, showrunner Eric Kripke gave an update on the status of the original series. Things are moving forward nicely. “We start shooting in late August,” he said. “I’m starting to look at some early drafts of the first couple. We’re still early, I think right now we’re in the middle of breaking Episode 3 and I’m reading a draft of Episode 1. And even in that stage, it’s early with some heavy rewriting and we’re still in there figuring it all out.”

"But it’s super interesting and fun and really, really emotionally rich. Probably as emotionally complicated as we’ve ever done. So far, that’s been my big takeaway. Everyone is really facing their core issues in a way that’s pretty exciting, a very character-driven season."

The Boys season 4 doesn’t have a release date yet. However, Gen V is set to premiere this fall. The Boys Universe is growing! And with Invincible season 2 landing later this year too, this is gonna be a great year for superheroes on Prime Video!
