5 Harry Potter spinoffs we’d rather see than a remake series

4) The House of Black

Perhaps the most notorious and elite family in the Potterverse, the Black family’s origins can be traced all the way back to the Middle Ages. They are known for their desperate attempts at keeping their bloodline “pure.” A high-drama show about their history could be fascinating.

We would likely get to see the occasional black sheep of the Black family. We know there were always rebels and rule-breakers who were scrubbed from the family tree. Fans would love to learn about the predecessors of Sirius Black and Andromeda Tonks.

A multi-season show could end with the Hogwarts careers of Sirius, Regulus, Narcissa and Bellatrix, and not a single Harry Potter fan would complain about it. We might even get to see Regulus’ conflict with the dark side and eventual sacrifice for the greater good.

5) The story of Merlin

A real-life legend, Merlin is called “the most famous wizard of all time” and “Prince of Enchanters” on his chocolate frog card. He is a legendary medieval wizard and member of King Arthur’s court.

Taught by Salazar Slytherin himself, Merlin studied and created many puzzles in and beyond Hogwarts, including the Cursed Vaults. He was also a champion of muggle rights, hated the wizarding world’s obsession with pure-blood supremacy, and was staunchly opposed to the use of the Dark Arts.

With this show, the fans could get a glimpse into Merlin’s decorated life and the many secrets of Hogwarts that are still uncovered.
