Apple TV+ drops teaser for Foundation season 2, reveals release date
By Dan Selcke
The first season of Foundation, based on the books by famed sci-fi author Isaac Asimov, aired on Apple TV+ back in 2021. A heady story about the far future, Foundation envisions a vast galactic empire in decline, and a group of people who leave to set up a new society that can weather the coming storm.
The show wandered pretty far from the source material, although some of the additions were pretty cool, like a trio of clone emperors who rule the galaxy in perpetuity. One of the emperors, Brother Day, is played by The Hobbit veteran Lee Pace.
Now, Apple has release a new teaser trailer for Foundation season 2, which lets us know when the new episodes are coming out. Pace has plenty of screentime, including bit where he fights what looks like a…space dragon? Anyone more familiar with the Foundation books than me feel free to weigh in:
Foundation season 2 coming to Apple TV+ this July
We also spend some time with Hari Seldon (Jared Harris), an academic who long ago mathematically proved that the empire was going to fall. The character is technically long dead at this point in the timeline, but is kept around with sci-fi magic.
Foundation season 2 comes to Apple TV+ on July 14 of this year.
