Good news Marvel fans! Marvel Studios has announced release dates for not one but two of its upcoming Disney+ series Loki season 2 begins airing on October 7, which Echo is slated to hit Disney+ on November 29.

Most interesting of all is the fact that all episodes of Echo will release at once. That’s a first for Marvel Studios, which has so far stuck pretty strictly to a weekly release format for its television series on Disney+.

All episodes of Echo will come out on Disney+ at the same time

Of course, we’re all extremely excited for Loki; season 1 remains one of the strongest Marvel shows on Disney+; it was also the first Marvel show to receive a second season order. It’ll be great to have Tom Hiddleston back as the god of mischief alongside Owen Wilson’s time traveling TVA agent Mobius M. Mobius and Sophie Di Martino as the Loki variant Sylvie. And while the ongoing investigation into Kang the Conqueror actor Jonathan Majors’ abuse allegations is casting a shadow over the return, it remains a highly anticipated title.

We do have some questions, though: namely, what made Marvel Studios decide to release Echo all at once? This show is a spinoff of Hawkeye starring Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez, the surrogate daughter of the Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) who broke away to forge her own path at the end of the series. Kevin Feige announced the decision to release Echo in one bingeable chunk at Disney Upfronts:

"In Hawkeye, fans were first introduced to Maya Lopez, a character played by Alaqua Cox. She will return to get her revenge in Echo, a limited drama from an incredible team of indigenous writers, directors and cast members. And in a first for us all episodes will drop on November 29."

We don’t know for certain how many episodes Echo will be yet; expect that news to surface in the coming months.

What do the Loki and Echo release date announcement mean for Ironheart?

I’m also curious about the other Marvel show that’s supposed to come out this year: Ironheart. That one is about Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne), a college-aged inventor who reverse engineers her own suit of armor similar to Iron Man’s. We met Riri in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, so she’s already an established character in the MCU.

Ironheart was previously announced as a 2023 release, but it’s hard to imagine where it’ll fit into the schedule. We have Secret Invasion running from June to mid-July, Loki running from October through mid-November, and then Echo dropping right at the end of the fall. Will Ironheart sneak in as a holiday release? Or will it be pushed back to 2024?

We’ll find out when we find out. Until then, mark your calendars for Loki and Echo!
