Cameras are rolling today on the second season of House of the Dragon, HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel series! Cast and crew members have assembled in the Spanish town of Trujillo, part of a week-long shoot in the country. Yesterday, we brought you pictures from the set. Today, we have some video!

A note before we proceed: we’re going to be discussing events from George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, the book on which House of the Dragon is based. In other words, BEWARE SPOILERS!

The corpse of [SPOILER] is dragged through the streets of King’s Landing

The big thing the cast and crew were rehearsing yesterday was a procession through the streets of King’s Landing. You can see the horses walk on by below:

"Horses with the Targaryen and the Faith emblems spotted this morning in Cáceres, Spain by u/TensionMain in freefolk"

But what kind of procession is this? Here’s where we get into SPOILERS. In Fire & Blood, at one point, Rhaenys Targaryen (Eve Best) rides her dragon Meleys to Rook’s Rest, a castle with a lord loyal to Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy). Rhaenys is coming to help Lord Staunton fight against the forces of King Aegon II Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney), Rhaenyra’s rival for the Iron Throne.

But Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel), the Lord Commander of Aegon’s Kingsguard, has laid a trap for Rhaenys! When she gets to Rook’s Rest, there are not one but two dragon-riders waiting to meet her: Aegon on his dragon Sunfyre, and Aegon’s brother Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) on his ginormous dragon Vhagar, who we saw tear up Arrax and Lucerys in the House of the Dragon season 1 finale.

There’s a mid-air battle, and both Rhaenys and Meleys are killed. That leads us to this procession. In the book, the head of Meleys the dragon is taken back to King’s Landing. And wouldn’t you know it: in the video below, we see a cart bearing a huge blue screen lump pass by:

"Noo Meleys by u/nav-tm in freefolk"

Goodnight, sweet Meleys. She’s interrupting coronations with angels now.

Which House of the Dragon stars are on set in Spain?

So who will be part of this scene? It’s probably not a surprise to hear that Fabien Frankel is in the area, since Criston Cole is an important part of these events. Also present is new cast member Freddie Fox, who plays Alicent Hightower’s brother Sir Gwayne Hightower. The greens are gathering!

Also in Spain right now is Michelle Bonnard, who played the brothel keeper we met briefly in season 1. If a procession is weaving through the streets of King’s Landing, it makes sense that she may be among those watching.

The filming continues. We’ll be watching.
