Star Trek: Lower Decks crossover coming to Strange New Worlds
By Dan Selcke
There’s a ton of Star Trek content on the air these days, including Star Trek: Discovery, Picard, and Prodigy. Next month, Paramount+ will premiere the second season of Strange New Worlds, a series that harkens back to the early days of the franchise when each episode stood on its own as an individual story.
Paramount is also crossing the streams a bit. Strange New Worlds season 2 will feature the returns of characters like Pike, Spock and Uhura, but will also include folk from the animated Star Trek series Lower Decks. Brad Boimler and Beckett Mariner will turn up, played by the same people who voice them on Lower Decks: Jack Quaid and Tawny Newsome.
We expect that to be the plot of one episode, not an entire arc or anything. And plenty more will happen besides. Check out the new trailer below:
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2 release date
Strange New Worlds has gotten pretty good marks from fans. The problem is more that, with so many Star Trek series either already out or on the way, it risks getting lost in the torrent.
Hopefully it will carve out a space for itself. The second season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds begins streaming on Paramount+ on June 15. A fourth season of Lower Decks is also expected to air later this year. Maybe Strange New Worlds will cross back over.
