Ask AI: Who is the most powerful wizard in Harry Potter?

Expelliarmus! Lumos! And so on! The wizards and witches in Harry Potter spend a lot of time throwing spells back and forth at each other. But who throws them hardest? Who’s the most powerful wizard in the series?

Fans have debated this question online for years, with no definitive answer emerging. With the advent of generative AI programs like ChatGPT, we no longer have to rely on the fleshy brains of human fans to figure this stuff out. We can ask our robot overlord directly. So, ChatGPT, who is the most wizard in the Harry Potter series?

And lo, it speaks:

"In the Harry Potter series, Albus Dumbledore is widely considered to be one of the most powerful wizards of all time. His exceptional magical abilities, immense knowledge of various branches of magic, and strategic thinking make him a formidable wizard. Dumbledore served as the Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, was a highly skilled duelist, and possessed incredible wisdom and intuition. However, it is important to note that there are other exceptionally powerful wizards in the series as well, such as Lord Voldemort, Gellert Grindelwald, and Merlin (who is legendary but does not appear in the series directly). The notion of “most powerful” can vary depending on different factors, interpretations, and circumstances within the wizarding world."

ChatGPT thinks Professor Dumbledore is the most powerful wizard in the Harry Potter books

So ChatGPT names Dumbledore as the most powerful wizard, more or less. And sure, that’s a sensical answer. He gets up to a lot of impressive feats throughout the books and movies.

He’s not invincible, though. Voldemort weakens him and Severus Snape finishes him off, although we later learn that last bit was part of an elaborate plan in which Dumbledore had a hand.

Still, this answer is acceptable. Thank you, robot.
