HBO doesn’t know if it will greenlight the Jon Snow sequel show

HBO already has one Game of Thrones spinoff on the air: House of the Dragon. It has another one on the way: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. And it has several more in development, including a series that would follow-up with Jon Snow after the events of the original series.

On the as-yet-unordered series, the Jon Snow show is the one fans are most interested in. Speaking to Deadline, HBO executive Francesca Orsi reminded people that it’s still in the very early stages. “We’re just working deeply with the writers to get it in shape for potential greenlight, but at this point, no, no determination on whether it can go all the way,” she said.

Kit Harington came up with the idea for a Jon Snow sequel show

The Jon Snow show will apparently take place after the events of season 8 of Game of Thrones, after Jon has returned to either the Night’s Watch or the wild lands beyond the Wall; the ending of the original show wasn’t 100% clear. Kit Harington would be back as Jon; in fact, according to George R.R. Martin, the show was Harington’s idea and has been in discussion for as long as other Game of Thrones spinoffs like 10,000 Ships and Sea Snake.

As for other Game of Thrones characters who may return for the Jon Snow show, one can assume that Kristofer Hivju will be back as Tormund Giantsbane. The rest of the casting is completely up in the air, much like the show itself.
