Drogon: The last dragon
At the end of Game of Thrones, Drogon was not just Daenerys Targaryen’s last living dragon, but the only dragon in the entire world (that we know of). After flying away with Daenerys’ body in tow, Drogon left for parts unknown.
Where did he go? A ninth season could explore that, perhaps showing Drogon journeying to the ruins of Old Valyria, a return to his symbolic homeland. Or maybe he’s drawn back to Westeros, perhaps by his connection with last-living-Targaryen Jon Snow, who would meet him in the far North.
Maybe Drogon could even discover a cache of ancient dragon eggs in Old Valyria, heralding a possible return of the beasts. Bran, who suggested he would try searching for Drogon at the end of season 8, could find out and see it as something that needs addressing for the good of the Kingdoms.

The perfect ending doesn’t exis…
Okay, we’ve suggested some plausible ways in which Game of Thrones could continue. Now it’s time to get insane.
So hear me out: Arya Stark, while exploring the seas to the west of Westeros, comes across a civilization that has mastered the art of…wait for it…time travel. She figures out how to go back in time before Joffrey is able to execute Ned Stark. She murders Jaime Lannister, wears his face, and kills Cersei. Then Joffrey. Nobody would ever know she was involved, but the story would be entirely different.
And the best thing about all this? We finally get an answer as to why Bran never did anything, ever. Bran already knew about Arya’s discovery of time travel because he saw it in a vision, and that’s why he sat there and let EVERYTHING happen.
And that’s the true, perfect ending. Fight me.
And there you have it: a feast of possibilities, each rich with intrigue and potential. It’s a testament to the depth of George R.R. Martin’s world and the beloved HBO series that even after eight seasons, there’s still so much more that could be explored. While a season 9 may never happen, it’s undeniably fun to dream about the countless untold stories that could exist in the Game of Thrones universe.
What would you want to see happen in a hypothetical season 9?
