Here’s a fan success story to warm the cockles of your heart. Netflix canceled its fantasy show Warrior Nun late last year after the show’s second season. The show is about a young woman named Ava Silva (Alba Baptista), who joins an ancient order to fight demons and other powerful forces.
The show developed a passionate fan following, and people were not at all happy to see it go. With encouragement from showrunner Simon Barry, fans got to work trying to save the series, talking it up on Twitter and even buying a billboard across the street from Netflix headquarters.
It’s unclear what exactly happened, but today, Barry announced that Warrior Nun is coming back!
Warrior Nun returns…somewhere…at some time
Barry promises that details are coming, but at present all we know is that the show is returning. We don’t know where a new season might air; will it return to Netflix, or did some other network snap it up? Probably the latter, although I guess Netflix could backtrack.
Technically, we don’t even know that Warrior Nun is coming back for another season of TV. There could be a Warrior Nun movie in the offing, or maybe even — God forbid — a comic book or something. But given how much Barry is hyping it up, I don’t think that will come to pass.
Congrats to all the Warrior Nun fans whose dedication made this happen!
