We’re just a few short months away from the premiere of The Wheel of Time season 2 on Prime Video, which means the time for Trailer Gaidon is fast approaching. The studio has been gradually trickling out news and updates about the series over the past few weeks, and today we got one of the most exciting yet: a brand new poster for season 2.
New poster shows off improved magic in The Wheel of Time season 2
This new poster highlights the main cast of the series. In the center we have Moiraine Damodred (Rosamund Pike), the Aes Sedai sorceress responsible for setting our group of young heroes on their journey to fight the forces of darkness in season 1. It’s interesting to note that Moiraine seems to be wearing plainer clothes here and is wielding a knife; at the end of season 1 she seemingly lost her powers. We still don’t know how that will play out this season.
To Moiraine’s left, we see Egwene (Madeline Madden), Nynaeve (Zoë Robbins), and Moiraine’s warder Lan (Daniel Henney). Again, note the clothes on Egwene and Nynaeve: both are wearing white, which is the color for novices at the White Tower, where Aes Sedai are trained. A large portion of Robert Jordan’s novel The Great Hunt, which forms the basis for this season, focuses on Egwene and Nynaeve’s time at the tower. On the other side of Moiraine we have Rand al’Thor (Josha Stradowski), Perrin Aybara (Marcus Rutherford), and Mat Cauthon, who will be played by Dónal Finn in season 2.
We also see some weaves of the One Power, and in color! One of the criticisms leveled against season 1 was that the magical weaves used by the Aes Sedai were all more or less the same color, making them hard to differentiate. Here we see a blue and red weave on each side of the poster. Do they represent water and fire? The female and male sides of the One Power, Saidar and Saidin? We can’t say for sure from the poster alone, but the fact that there’s any sort of visual distinction makes me really curious to see how the magic is portrayed in season 2.
When will we get a trailer for The Wheel of Time season 2?
But wait, there’s more! The tweet from the official Wheel of Time Twitter account has the caption “What does The Pattern have in store? Find out next week.” Considering that we’re less than two months out from the season 2 air date, we’re due to see some sort of new trailer anytime now. That’s our hope for what we’ll see next week! Be ready for Wednesday, when The Wheel of Time traditionally drops updates on Twitter.
The Wheel of Time season 2 premieres September 1 on Prime Video.
