Jon Snow returns: Possible storylines for HBO’s Game of Thrones spin-off
By Anwesha Nag
Civil unrest in the North
Sansa Stark negotiated with her brother to let the North be an independent kingdom over which she would rule. The red-haired queen seemed to have the support of most of her bannermen when she took the throne. However, it doesn’t take long for conflicts to arise in the world of Game of Thrones.
There would be noblemen who won’t accept or acknowledgE Sansa as the Queen in the North. They could either want to be ruled by the king of the Seven Kingdoms, want Jon Snow back on the throne, or simply have an issue with her being a woman. In any case, it would be exciting to see how Sansa goes about handling these rifts.
A What If…? scenario
Game of Thrones is a grounded series, and we wouldn’t expect a sequel show to seriously commit to any wild flights of fancy, like exploring what Jon Snow’s life would have been life had events played out differently. However, we could see flashes of this in Jon’s dreams, or through Bran’s visions. cHad Robert’s Rebellion never happened and Rhaegar Targaryen found the good sense to make his marriage to Lyanna Stark public (he was the Crown Prince, he could’ve forced through a divorce if he wanted), Jon could have grown up as a legitimate heir to the Iron Throne.
He would not be called Jon Snow, but Aegon Targaryen. He would grow up noble, not a bastard. Most importantly, Ned Stark would be alive.
These segments could include flashbacks of Rhaegar and Lyanna’s romance and the infamous Tourney of Harrenhal, where the Targaryan heir chose Lady Stark as the “Queen of Love and Beauty” by placing a crown of blue winter roses in her lap in front of Elia Martell, his then-wife.
Which of these storylines do you think will make it to the Jon Snow show, if it happens at all?
