House of the Dragon season 2 filming scenes involving the Triarchy
By Dan Selcke
Early in the first season of House of the Dragon, Daemon Targaryen and Corlys Velaryon team up to take down the Crabfeeder, an enigmatic guerrilla leader who’s making it hard for houses from Westeros to trade with the Free Cities of Essos. The Crabfeeder is working on behalf of the Triarchy, an alliance between three of those cities. And while Daemon and Corlys manage to kill the Crabfeeder, the Triarchy itself remains.
If you’ve read George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood, you know that they will become a problem once again.
At the end of the first season on House of the Dragon, we’re on the brink of war between Rhaenyra Targaryen and her half-brother Aegon II Targaryen for control of the Iron Throne. Both Corlys and Daemon, old enemies of the Triarchy, are fighting with Rhaenyra. We won’t give anything away, but if the Triarchy were to enter this war, whose side do you think they’d be on?
The Triarchy returns in House of the Dragon season 2
According to fansite Redanian Intelligence, the cast and crew of House of the Dragon are filming scenes involving the Triarchy as we speak. At this point, most of the location filming for the season has been completed, so scenes are now being shot mostly at Leavesden Studios in England. It’s possible some of the Triarchy scenes are being filmed on some of the giant sets they’ve build on the backlot, but it’s hard to be sure.
RI also doesn’t know which primary cast members are involved in the shoot, although it does suggest that actor Ellora Torchia may have joined the cast, based on some pics she’s posted to her Instagram.
And House of the Dragon is doing all of this while most writers and actors in Hollywood are on strike. They’re one of the few shows to do that, but they could still be adversely affected. Let’s hope all of that gets resolved soon.
