The Wheel of Time season 2 trailer shot-by-shot breakdown

Above, Ishamael weaves the One Power, which looks better than it did in season 1. Whatever he’s up to, it’s not good, especially if it has anything to do with this bloodsoaked person we see rising to their feet in the following shot:

That’s some very long hair, and quite a lot of blood. Who is this naked person in a cavern? Our best guess is another Forsaken.

The Seanchan attack!

Now we get our first of many looks at the Seanchan, another civilization in the world of The Wheel of Time. In most of the world, women who can channel are revered and feared. But the Seanchan enslave channelers and turn them into weapons of war. They capture women who can channel with an a’dam, which is a collar attached to a leash; the collar goes on the channeler, known as a damane, and their handler, called a sul’dam, wears a bracelet connected to the other end of the leash which gives them control over the channeler.

The design of the damane collar almost looks more like armor in the TV show. We’ll get a better look at it later.

The damane blast a group of people with the Power; note the sul’dam standing behind them to give orders. If you go through the following shots frame-by-frame, you can make out that Masema (The Last Kingdom’s Arnas Fedaravičius), Ingtar (Gregg Chillingirian), and Uno (Guys Roberts) are in the group getting blasted.

It looks like Perrin’s there too:

Next we head to the White Tower, where Nynaeve is being led into an underground chamber. Based on that enormous arch, this is probably the room where Novice Aes Sedai are tested before being promoted to the rank of Accepted:

Trials, journeys, and strange companions

Nynaeve’s Accepted trial happens in The Great Hunt and involves passing through three arches which give her visions. It’s an important scene, and one we fully expect to see in season 2.

We cut next to a wide shot showing a group of riders in a gorgeous mountain setting. It’s followed up with a shot of Perrin that looks like it’s from the same scene:

A large portion of The Great Hunt deals with a group of characters chasing after Padan Fain, who we last saw stealing the Horn of Valere from Shienar in the season 1 finale. Since we already saw Perrin with the Shienarans during the Seanchan attack, we’re going to assume that’s probably who he’s riding with here, too.

Here’s an interesting one. Rand al’Thor nuzzles a new character we haven’t met, played by Natasha O’Keeffe. We already know O’Keeffe is playing the Forsaken Lanfear, so that’s who this is. The big question is: does Rand know it’s Lanfear? She goes by the moniker Selene for a while in The Great Hunt, so we’re guessing no.

Another quick shot of Rand, this time walking down a hallway. Maybe this is a dormitory of some kind, since the doors are so evenly spaced apart?

Wherever Rand is, quite a few people have their eye on him:
