All the secrets from The Wheel of Time season 2 trailer
By Daniel Roman
Heading into the end of the trailer, we get back to Rand, who’s looking more than a little badass here. This shot is likely in the city of Falme, which is conquered by the Seanchan and converted into a base of operations for their military campaign.
Rand approaches a tent which is guarded by a group of warriors wielding spears.
A Heron-mark sword is pulled from its scabbard! This is High Lord Turak’s sword, which we know because we see him raise it into a fighting stance in the following shot:
Rand and Turak’s face-off is an iconic scene from The Great Hunt. Heron-mark swords are traditionally wielded only by blademasters, but Rand inherited his from his father, Tam. How will he fare against a blademaster who’s actually earned the title?
We cut back to Rand tied to the wheel for a surreal zoomout. Could this be a dream or vision meant to symbolize how Rand’s destiny is tied to the Wheel of Time?
It does not look like Rand is alone. As we zoom out, we see that there’s something or someone in front of him. Rand, the wheel and this mystery person are the only features on an otherwise vast and empty plain.
It’s a hard life for a Myrdraal, especially when people go around stabbing you with fire swords.
It’s hard to make out who the person with the sword is. From the following shot of them pulling the blade out of the Myrdraal’s back, we can at least tell it’s not Lan thanks to the different hairstyle.
Mat stabs someone or something with what looks like a makeshift spear.
Next up, an explosion at the gates:
The layout and design of this castle lines up with what we saw of the interior of Falme in earlier shots. Even more intriguing, if you scroll back up to the picture of Rand facing off with the Seanchan soldiers, you can see dust clouding around the main gate. Perhaps this is Rand making an explosive entrance to help out his friends?
We end with a gorgeous-looking scene of Rand speaking with Siuan Sanche. This is not the White Tower, judging by the decor. It’s obviously some other regal place, though. Maybe Caihrien? Did Siuan Sanche’s servants carry the whole Amyrlin Seat there? I hope they’re taking it easy while she and Rand have their chat.
“I’m tired of being a spoke in the Wheel,” Rand says to Siuan. “You’re not a spoke, boy. You’re the water that turns the Wheel itself,” Siuan replies.
And so ends this deep dive. Did you suss out any details we missed? Are there any parts of this season you’re particularly excited about? Let us know in the comments!
The Wheel of Time season 2 premieres September 1 on Prime Video.
