Let’s dreamcast Max’s new Harry Potter TV show
Hayley Atwell as…Lilly Potter
The love of Harry’s mother Lilly was the reason he survived the killing curse cast by Lord Voldemort when he was a baby. Her quick thinking and willingness to sacrifice herself not only saved her son’s life, but also nearly destroyed Voldemort and stopped his reign of terror. Snape’s lifelong love for Lilly is the reason he protects Harry and feigns loyalty to Voldemort in the ultimate double agent story.
Even though she dies before the story begins, Lilly is an important character. She’ll only be onscreen for a short time, but the show will have to get her right. Enter Hayley Atwell. She has the right look for Lilly, and the talent to make an impression life in only a handful of scenes.
I would love to see more of Lilly in a full version of the night in Godric’s Hollow from the final book, or flashback scenes of Lilly reluctantly rejecting Snape’s love. Just please give her green eyes in the new show, for the book-readers.
Richard Madden as…James Potter
James is Harry’s loving father. He had a bit of a dark past. Although he was a member of the Order of the Phoenix and a staunch supporter of Dumbledore, James was a bit of a bully during his time at Hogwarts. Together with his friends Remus and Sirius, James was the bane of Snape’s existence for a long time. He even married the woman Snape loved. James is a morally grey character who could be fleshed out in flashbacks to an extent we haven’t seen before.
Richard Madden could do a good job in this kind of role. His most well-known role is Robb Stark in Game of Thrones. Robb was also a flawed character fighting for the good guys. Although he wanted the best for everyone, Robb could be shortsighted and made some mistakes, which recalls James. Both characters also did not care who they hurt to marry the woman they loved, which had major ramifications on the people around him.
