Simon Pegg as…Argus Filch

Argus Filch is the nasty-tempered caretaker of Hogwarts who often acts as a minor antagonist to Harry and his friends. He wanders around the school with his cat Mrs. Norris and narcs on students for breaking rules.

I think Simon Pegg would take this role and run with it. He often plays funny and quirky characters like Filch. There are times when Filch is straight up comedic relief in Harry Potter, and Pegg would probably crank it up to 11. I could see him being one of the best parts of the Max show were he cast in this role.

Rory McCann as…Rubeus Hagrid

Okay, hear me out on this one. I know Rory McCann is known for playing “The Hound” on Game of Thrones, a character who has basically the complete opposite personality of Rubeus Hagrid, the kindly Hogwarts caretaker. However, there are plenty of examples of McCann showing the Hound’s softer side. Watching those, you can begin to see how him playing Hagrid would make sense.

McCann also clearly has the physical build to play Hagrid, who is technically a half-giant. After eight seasons of playing one of the best characters on Game of Thrones, I think McCann can handle the role of Hagrid and even find new things in the character. Robbie Coltrane gave a masterclass performance in the Harry Potter films, but I think it would be interesting to experiment with a version of the character that has a little more edge to him. And McCann would be the perfect choice for that.
