10 unsolved Game of Thrones mysteries we still think about

5. Why send Jon Snow away?
After the defeat of the Night King, there’s likely no need for a Night’s Watch anymore. And yet, that’s where Jon Snow is apparently sent after murdering Daenerys Targaryen. He is seen walking away beyond the Wall with a group of wildlings, perhaps feeling at home for the first time in years. But he didn’t need to leave labeled a traitor, especially with the rulership of Westeros being so ambiguous at the moment.
Jon Snow’s personal suffering over killing his lover (and aunt) aside, it seemed unnecessary to brand him like this; it was only done to pacify Daenerys’ remaining forces, who weren’t even going to stick around afterward. Moreover, Jon’s half-brother/cousin Bran was now the King of Westeros. Bran could have decided to overrule the decision. Tyrion Lannister could also have stepped in, admitting he played a part in what needed to be done after the violence Daenerys unleashed on King’s Landing.
But none of that happened. In the end, it just seemed like they all needed Jon Snow to be the one to take the fall, which is a fate that the character did not deserve.
4. Unexplained White Walker activities
Much about the White Walkers was always shrouded in mystery, but some of their actions truly made no sense. These merciless creatures were seen slaying Night’s Watch members in the very first episode of the show, yet, they see and spare Samwell Tarly hiding behind a rock in the final episode of Season 2. What gives?
Other unexplained White Walker activities include them arranging dead bodies in strange patterns. Perhaps they’re trying to instill fear among anyone who finds them. But the White Walkers used corpses to create wights, so why waste dead bodies to make meaningless art? During one of Bran’s trips to the past, we see that the Children of the Forest also made patterns like this, but we don’t know why the White Walkers picked up their habit.
It is also not clear why the White Walkers would make a deal with Craster. If they wanted living human beings turned into White Walkers, they had access to plenty of grown wildlings whom they could have chosen instead of waiting around for Craster’s newborn babies.
3. Daenerys Targaryen’s past in Essos was forgotten
As the Dragon Queen set sail for Westeros, everything about her time in the East was more or less never brought up again. In season 3, an assassin tries to kill her with a poisonous insect to avenge the death of Pyat Pree, the leader of the Warlocks of Qarth. But they are never seen again.
We also don’t hear about the empire she erected in Slaver’s Bay. She left it in the hands of Daario Naharis, who was also her lover at one point. He was loyal to Daenerys last we saw him. What did he do with the kingdom? Why was he never called upon to help in Westeros? Did he ever learn about her death? Did he try to avenge her if he did? He was one of the finest swordsmen on the show and could have taken on Jon Snow if he wanted to.
