If you are wondering who played the new character Dodgy Mo in Sex Education season 4, well, you’re not alone. Game of Thrones fans might recognize him immediately, but the general public (myself included) struggled to recognize one of the new characters in the new season of Netflix’s comedy series.
Jack Gleeson guest stars as Dodgy Mo in Sex Education season 4
Jack Gleeson, best known for starring as the vile King Joffrey Baratheon in the first four seasons of Game of Thrones, appears in two episodes of Sex Education season 4 as Dodgy Mo, a mustache-sporting stoner who looks like he might be a pretty fun hang.
In the series, Dodgy Mo is the best friend/drug dealer of Maeve’s brother Sean (Edward Bluemel). We don’t want to spoil the whole season, but Maeve (Emma Mackey) is going through a lot and needs her brother, who is spending a lot of time with Dodgy Mo. I would have preferred to find out a lot more about Dodgy Mo, but there was so much ground to cover in Sex Education season 4 that there wasn’t time.
As for why he’s named “Dodgy Mo,” we never find out, but it’s an iconic character name, look, and vibe. The mustache is the best part of the look. It’s such a bad mustache, but it works so well. If I’m not seeing Dodgy Mo Halloween costumes in the next month, something is wrong with the world.
I hate throwing around the term “unrecognizable” in situations like these, but I literally did not recognize Gleeson! Not immediately, anyway. I did a double-take and then stared at him a few times before I realized I was looking at Joffrey of Houses Baratheon and Lannister, the First of His Name, from Game of Thrones. Again, the (lack of) mustache made all the difference.
Sex Education season 4 premiered on Netflix on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023. It’s the final season of the series, so we won’t be seeing Gleeson as Dodgy Mo in any future seasons.
You can see Jack Gleeson next in a new TV series, The Famous Five.
