Tom Taylor reportedly cast as Cregan Stark in House of the Dragon season 2

In the season 1 finale of House of the Dragon, Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) sent her son Jacaerys Velaryon, aka Jace (Harry Collett) up north to win great lord and ladies to her cause. If the show follows the story laid out in George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, he’ll go first to the Eyrie in the Vale, where he’ll meet with Lady Jeyne Arryn. After that it’s on to Winterfell to meet with the young Lord Cregan Stark, who’s around his age.

In the book, not only does Jace successfully get Cregan to pledge his allegiance to his mother, but the two of them become friends, and Cregan ends up being an important player in the wars to come. We’ve known for a while that we would be visiting the North in House of the Dragon season 2, but we didn’t know who would be playing Cregan. Now, we have an inkling.

But seriously, Taylor has an impressive resume for someone so young. He played young Uhtred in the very first episode of The Last Kingdom on Netflix, and he starred opposite Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey in the 2017 movie The Dark Tower, a failed adaptation of Stephen King’s book series. I mean, sure, the movie flopped, but it speaks well of Taylor that he was cast in a lead role in a major motion picture so early in his career, right?

If Taylor is indeed playing Cregan Stark — and we remind you that this news isn’t confirmed by HBO — he could be a part of the House of the Dragon cast for the long haul. We’ll keep our ear to the ground for more.
