Season 1 of Amazon Prime Video’s superhero show Invincible chronicled the beginnings of Mark Grayson’s superhero career. After getting his powers, he thinks of himself a world-saving hero… not knowing of his superhero father Omni-Man’s secret ambitions to seize control over Earth. When his father, who goes by the Earth name Nolan Greyson, shows his true colors, they get into a gruesome battle that culminates in Omni-Man leaving the planet. Now Mark Grayson is alone without a father to mentor him.

With Omni-Man (temporarily) out of the picture, the onus falls on Mark and his friends to protect Earth from otherworldly threats. Season 2 will introduce us to Invincibles’ greatest nemesis: Angstrom Levy. He has the ability to hop between dimensions and utilizes this power to assemble an army of Invincibles, with the goal of using them to kill the Invincible in our universe. That’s right, it’s another multiverse story, folks!

“I think that a lot of people who haven’t read the comic are probably expecting Season 2 to have another advancement of the core story between Mark and Nolan,” Invincible creator Robert Kirkman told IGN. “I think that the opportunity is there to show them, no, Invincible is a big story, and it covers a lot of ground, and it’s not just Mark and Nolan over, and over, and over again. There’s certainly aspects of that. If you’re a big Nolan fan, be excited for season two, but there are so many other stories in Mark’s world and Angstrom Levy is a big signifier of that.”

"This is a character that kind of comes in at a time when Nolan is gone and really becomes a Mark-centric villain, and is one of the first villains that really put Mark through his paces and showed him as a capable superhero."

Voiced by Sterling K. Brown, Kirkman says the show’s version of Levy is a “more lively, more vibrant version of what we know from the comics.” Wondering what Angstrom Levy looks like? Take a look:

Yes, Invincible will win fights in season 2!

Given his immense Viltrumite powers, you’d think that every fight Mark Grayson has been involved in would be a breeze, but that’s not been the case. Quite the opposite, in fact. Look no further than when Nolan left him barely alive in the final moments of season 1.  Looking ahead to season 2, Kirkman has reassured fans that we will see Invincible win fights.

“Another thing that I see people talking about with season 1 is, ‘When is Mark going to start winning fights?’ He starts winning fights in Season 2,” Kirkman said. “He still does lose fights, though. Angstrom Levy is another big part of that, just showing Mark as a capable superhero who can stand on his own and to really give people a sense of what this show really is about.”

As the last line of defense on Earth, Mark Grayson certainly has his work cut out in season 2. The first batch of episodes in Invincible season 2 premiere on Amazon Prime Video on November 3, 2023. The season will return for more episodes early next year.
