It was only a matter of time before Netflix decided to take their talents to an actual brick-and-mortar store. According to Bloomberg, in 2025, the streaming company plans to open up stores that would offer retail, food, and live entertainment.

I’d assume all of those things would be related to their original shows and movies, but we don’t know the details yet. Honestly, I’m into the idea because I’d love to go to a Netflix store and buy some Stranger Things merch while Stranger Things plays in the background. Wouldn’t that be amazing?!

Netflix is expanding in a fun, interesting way

The company’s vice president, Josh Simon, said that Netflix would like to open up several stores, starting in the U.S. and eventually expanding into other parts of the world. Allegedly, two stores are set to open in 2025, but the location is yet to be announced.

“We’ve seen how much fans love to immerse themselves in the world of our movies and TV shows,” Simon said. “And we’ve been thinking a lot about how we take that to the next level.” The next level means a store, duh!

Disney, which runs the streaming service Disney+, has had brick-and-mortar Disney stores for decades now, and I’m curious about how Netflix will pull off its own version. I suppose they have been expanding into live experiences such as The Queen’s Ball: A Bridgerton Experience, which is so much fun.

There have also been a number of pop-up restaurants themed around Netflix cooking shows. Netflix is definitely trying to mix it up and grow. I can’t wait to see what these brick-and-mortar stores have in store for fans. Hopefully, there will be lots of merch, vintage DVDs, and the like! And perhaps even some premieres and fun celebrity events along the way.

Stay tuned for more details on locations and opening dates for the future Netflix stores!
