Neil Gaiman: No, those Good Omens season 3 script leaks aren’t real
By Dan Selcke
Good Omens began life as a book of the same name way back in 1990, a comic fantasy about an angel named Aziraphale and a demon named Crowley who team up to prevent the Biblical apocalypse. It’s written by two titans of the fantasy genre: Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. Pratchett passed away in 2015, but Gaiman went on to adapt the book as a TV show for Amazon Prime Video in his memory.
Originally, the plan was to end things there, but the first season of the show was such a hit that Amazon ordered more. Before he passed, Pratchett and Gaiman had planned a sequel that they never wrote. The second season of Good Omens leads up to that sequel, and the planned third season would adapt it and wrap up the story.
We still don’t know for sure whether Amazon will order the third and final season of Good Omens, and fans are getting antsy. According to ScreenRant, snippets of allegedly leaked scripts have appeared on Reddit before getting taken down. Why were they taken down? It may have something to do with Neil Gaiman himself stepping in.
Neil Gaiman’s advice to Good Omens fans who find “leaked scripts: “Think and breathe.”
Gaiman is very active over on his Tumblr, often answering fan questions. One asked him whether the alleged script leaks were fake. His response:
"Sighs.Googles.Notices that the “script leak” ends in /j.Breathe, people. Think and breathe."
Hey, he didn’t say they weren’t real. Leaks confirmed! But no, seriously, obviously we shouldn’t believe everything we read on the internet. When we get official news about Good Omens season 3, perhaps the conspiracies will stop.
Good Omens season 3 is “very likely” to happen
As I said, Amazon has not announced whether it will bring back Good Omens for a third and final season. But the signs are good. According to Deadline, a publication that has deep contacts within Hollywood, a third season is “very likely.” We just haven’t heard about it yet.
That may have something to do with the ongoing actors strike in Hollywood; perhaps Amazon doesn’t want to get rolling on anything new until that is resolved. Then again, it may not, because Good Omens involves mainly British actors and they’re not bound by the same rules as striking American actors.
But the takeaway is that Good Omens season 3 is probably coming. We just have to be patient.
