Villain: The Mauler Twins

The Mauler Twins are actually just one guy named Mauler who created an identical clone of himself to aid in his work. But since the pair are indistinguishable and they do not know which one is the original whenever they’re made anew, they are, for all intents and purposes, twins. The Maulers are experts in cloning technology, but also have superhuman durability, strength and a regenerative healing ability.

The Maulers are usually using their abilities to commit crimes to bankroll their crazy experiments. In addition to attacking the White House and reviving the Immortal, the Mauler twins also build Robot a human body made from the DNA of Rex Splode and transfer his consciousness into it.

The pair get arrested by the Global Defense Agency at the end of season 1, but they play a large role in the comics so I expect them to get back into the action pretty early in season 2.

Hero: Atom Eve

Although she hasn’t quite harnessed the full capabilities of her powers, Atom Eve is still an extremely formidable fighter in Invincible season 1 and will only get better as time goes on. With the ability to manipulate matter on a subatomic level, the world is literally at Eve’s fingertips, as she can create virtually anything from weapons and shields to buildings and flourishing fields of crops.

Originally a member of the Teen-Team, Atom Eve left after she found her boyfriend Rex-Splode having an affair with their fellow team member Dupli-Kate. After this, she teamed up with Invincible a few times and the two grew close; they went to the same high school, after all.

Robot selects Eve to serve on the new Guardians of the Globe, but she refuses to be on the same team as Rex-Splode and Dupli-Kate. She decides to leave the country and forge her own path by helping feed the hungry in Africa. Part of her decision to leave is based on the fact that Invincible begins a romantic relationship with Amber.

Invincible seeks out Eve after Amber breaks up with him, and she is there in the aftermath of his fight with his father Omni-Man. However, Invincible also gets back together with Amber around the same time, setting up a love-triangle scenario.

Eve is definitely one of the coolest characters in this show and will only continue to grow more powerful. We got a deep dive into her backstory in a one-shot prequel episode on Amazon, so check that out if you want more Atom Eve.
