A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has arrived and has already delivered plenty of hilarious moments. The latest Game of Thrones spinoff is off to a great start. But many fans were surprised by how funny the first episode of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is. While Game of Thrones did have moments of humor, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms almost feels more like a comedy than a fantasy adventure.

The lighter tone is a nice change of pace from the dark seriousness the Game of Thrones franchise has been known for. From the characters to the focus on the smaller-scale world of this story, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has some hilarious standout moments in its first episode.

1. Dunk's takes a poop

One of the most talked about moments in A Knight of the Seven Kingdom's first episode quickly allowed the spinoff to set itself apart from the rest of the franchise. After the death of Ser Arlan of Pennytree, Duncan the Tall decides to become a knight himself and head out for the nearest tourney.

As he looks ahead to his epic journey, the familiar theme music swells only for Dunk to get a strange look on his face. The music then stops with a smash-cut to Dunk bent over behind a tree and pooping. A Knight of the Seven Kingdom's poop scene is a hilariously unexpected transition that promises a very different sort of journey.

2. Egg applies as squire

While Dunk is at the center of the first episode, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has another promising scene-stealer in the form of young Egg. The little child has big ambitions of his own, but whereas Dunk can be a bit self-conscious and timid, Egg seems to have no problem speaking bluntly.

Even as he asks to be Dunk's squire, Egg relentlessly mocks the so-called knight. He comments on the fact that Dunk's belt is just a rope and points out that, "Every knight needs a squire, and you look like you need one more than most."

All Dunk can do is gape at the young boy's insolence and threaten to give him a "clout on the ear." It immediately makes for a great dynamic between them.

3. The Ashford chair

Dunk's first business as a knight is to participate in the tourney at Ashford, but that proves easier said than done. It is not yet known if Ser Arlan really did knight Dunk before his death, and when attempting to sign up for the tourney, he is given a rather brutal description of the punishment that awaits anyone lying about their knighthood.

The so-called "Ashford chair" is described as a sadistic torture technique that properly intimidated Dunk. When the tourney organizer admits he is joking about the whole thing, Dunk's attempts to laugh make it even funnier. It is also a fun joke, but before that sounded like the exact type of brutal thing we would expect to see in a Game of Thrones show.

4. Dunk can't talk to women

A lot of the humor in the first episode of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms comes from actor Peter Claffey's performance. He perfectly plays the awkwardness of Dunk, setting him apart from the other, more stoic heroes of the franchise. Case in point, he can barely get through a conversation with some women without embarrassing himself.

Seeking help from Ser Manfred, these women immediately peg Dunk as a hedge knight, which he described as "like a knight but sadder". Dunk is put off guard and never recovers. Claffey is so good at using his imposing size to boost Dunk's awkwardness. Seeing him stand around too long and then mutter "Arse" as he walks the wrong way makes him such an endearing, clumsy hero.

5. Dunk and Lyonel have a dance-off

While there are several notable Great Houses mentioned in the first episode of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, House Baratheon is the biggest to be mentioned, with the character of Lyonel Baratheon taking a central role. Like his kingly descendant Robert Baratheon, Lyonel enjoys drinking, and while he initially seems like a bully, he actually just likes having a good time.

After their tense meeting, Lyonel and Dunk hilariously bond on the dance floor of this uproarious party tent. It begins with a challenge between warriors and then just becomes two new friends dancing together, with Dunk's stiff movements mixing wonderfully with Lyonel's drunken inhibition.
