6 new sci-fi and fantasy shows to watch in March 2025

Daredevil: Born Again and The Wheel of Time season 3 by themselves would be plenty of reason to tune in this March, but there are lots more shows to sample.

March is here, and with it comes some major TV releases sci-fi and fantasy fans will want to pay attention to. Let's go down the line, in chronological order:

Daredevil: Born Again (March 4, Disney+)

First up is Daredevil: Born Again, a revival of the beloved Daredevil series that ran on Netflix for three seasons before Disney cancelled it, loathe to have anything Marvel-related appear on a streaming service it didn't control. It's taken years, but the gang has been reunited: Charlie Cox will step back into the role of Matt Murdock, Elden Henson is his law partner Foggy Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll their co-worker Karen Page, and Vincent D'Onofrio crime kingpin Wilson Fisk.

Fans have been waiting a long time for this comeback. Can the superhero series be as visceral and violent on Disney+ as it was on Netflix? Showrunner Dario Scardapane certainly thinks so, and the rest of us will know very soon.

Dark Winds season 3 (March 9, AMC)

Okay, Dark Winds isn'ta sci-fi or fantasy show, but it's a hard-boiled detective series based on a series of popular books and produced by Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin, so we're grand-fathering it in.

The third season once again follows Lt. Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon) and Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon), who this time are investigating the disappearance of a pair of 14-year-old boys. Again, the show isn't sci-fi or fantasy, but it finds in his rural landscapes and pregnant pauses a kind of poetry that is magical and meaningful.

The Wheel of Time season 3 (March 13, Prime Video)

For my money, the premiere genre event of March is the arrival of the third season of The Wheel of Time, based on the beloved epic fantasy novels by Robert Jordan. Season 3 will adapt The Shadow Rising, one of the best books in that series. The story will take characters like Rand, Moiraine, Nynaeve, Mat, Perrin and on thrilling new adventures that are all of a piece; The Wheel of Time is a long story, and so far this show has done a good job of building things in slowly and surely.

They've also stepped up the production values in season 3. The first three episodes will drop all at once on March 13, and the remaining episodes will come out at a rate of one per week thereafter.

Wolf King (March 20, Netflix)

Wolf Hall is a British animated series about a fantasy kingdom ruled over by the Lionlords. 16-year-old Drew Ferran discovers that's descended from a long line of wolf people, who used to rule the kingdom before the Lionlords took it over. Time to reclaim the throne.

Wolf King looks dark, intense, and fun. We could have another Netflix sleeper hit on our hands.

Wolf Hall – The Mirror and the Light (March 23, PBS)

Like Dark Winds, Walk Hall isn't exactly sci-fi or fantasy, but there's something about a medieval British period drama that gives off fantasy vibes. Once you put on a crown and get on a horse, it's over.

Wolf Hall — The Mirror and the Light adapts the final novel in Hilary Mantel's trilogy. It follows English statesman Thomas Cromwell as he navigates the royal court after Henry VIII executes his second wife Anne Boleyn.

Side Quest (March 26, Apple TV+)

Okay, so there are a lot of entries on this list that aren't technically sci-fi or fantasy but abut them enough that we feel comfortable including them. We regret nothing.

Anyway, Side Quest is a four-episode spinoff of Mystic Quest, the Apple TV+ sitcom about a massively successful fantasy role-playing game. Each episode will look at different people who interact with the game, including players, musicians, comic book shop owners, and folks in the art department.

There are some sci-fi/fantasy movies worth checking out too. Wicked starts streaming on Peacock on March 21. Bong Joon-ho's next movie Mickey 17 comes out this weekend, as does In The Lost Lands, which is based on a short story by George R.R. Martin. Disney's live-action remake of Snow White hits theaters on March 21, and Wicked starts streaming on Peacock on March 21.

Going back to TV, there are also plenty of great ongoing shows. March is packed:
