When the you play the game of thrones, you win or you die. When you play Legendary: Game of Thrones, a new deck-building game coming from Upper Deck Entertainment, death is optional.

There are a few versions of Legendary already out there, most notably Legendary: A Marvel Deck Building Game, where you build up rosters of Marvel heroes and villains and try to win battles. Legendary: Game of Thrones will transpose that same framework onto the Seven Kingdoms, where players will build up their own legions of Heroes, Villains and Masterminds in a bid to take the Iron Throne.

According to ICV2, Legendary: Games of Thrones will feature 550 cards, a rulebook, a deluxe play may, player boards and everything else you'll need to play. Like the Marvel version, Legendary: Game of Thrones is designed for one to five players. This one is meant for players 17 and up, which seems a little excessive; maybe there's a "march your enemy naked through the streets of King's Landing while ringing a bell" card that would be a little heavy for younger players.

Legendary: Game of Thrones is due out on July 13 and will retail for $79.99.

A House of the Dragon slot machine is coming

As long as we're talking about games based on the Game of Thrones universe, there's a slot machine coming to U.S. casinos themed around HBO's prequel series House of the Dragon, from Aristocrat Gaming.

According to GGR Asia — and I'm just going to write this out as they say it and hope it makes sense to people who love slot machines — the House of the Dragon slot machine will have “five overlapping metamorphic combining features”: ‘Mega Prize,’ ‘Boost Prize,’ ‘Double All,’ ‘Award All,’ and ‘Instant Win.’ Apparently this is an "industry first." The new slot machine is "a multi-denomination, lines-based game with a linked Grand Progressive."

I'll confess that slot machines baffle me. When I've gone to casinos, I always expect the slot machines to work how they do in old movies, where you pull a lever and then if three things line up you get a bunch of coins. But modern slot machines seem like very complicated affairs, with complicated betting paramenters and weird lines that go everywhere. I like roulette; if the ball lands on black I win. But if I ever see the House of the Dragon slot machine out in the wild, I may have to give it a spin.
