There was a bit of a shakeup in the release schedule last week with the Super Bowl, but we’re back to business as usual this week. The new episode of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will premiere tonight, Sunday, February 15, at 10:00 p.m. ET.

If you’re streaming on HBO Max, you can start watching at any time after it’s released, and if you’re watching on HBO linear, you’ll want to tune in at exactly 10:00 p.m. ET so you don’t miss a minute of the action. According to HBO’s schedule, an encore showing of Episode 5 will air directly after, at 10:42 p.m., followed by an additional showing at 1:05 a.m. early Monday morning.

We will warn you, if you can’t watch the episode as soon as it premieres tonight, we’d stay off social media until you do. There’s a lot that goes down that people will be discussing, and you’d hate to get one major part spoiled!

Don’t have HBO Max to watch? Sign up here, or pay an extra fee through the Prime Video add-on or Hulu add-on to access A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

Episode 4 ending explained

The tension in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has increased episode by episode as Dunk learns how unjust the world truly can be. In Episode 4, he awaits his punishment for harming a prince, and what he receives is very unexpected. Instead of a regular trial by combat, Aerion Targaryen proposes a trial of seven—meaning that both Dunk and Aerion will have six other knights fight with them to determine Dunk’s fate.

It’s a move even Aerion’s father Maekar is surprised by—who doesn’t even know what a trial of seven is—but it’s Aerion’s right, after all. Episode 4 ends with Dunk determining his final knight, making for a major surprise when Baelor volunteers to fight for him. It’s a tricky situation, especially because the Kingsguard are not allowed to fight princes, but it’s what Baelor feels he must do.

Episode 5 preview

Fans were a bit surprised to see the preview for this week’s episode, as it revealed we’ll be getting some flashbacks to Dunk’s childhood. But don’t worry; there’s more than just flashbacks in Episode 5. Check out the trailer below to get a glimpse of what will go down:

Episode 5 synopsis

In addition to the preview, we also have the synopsis courtesy of HBO:

"Dunk's mettle is put to the test in the brutal trial of seven. Years earlier, Dunk finds himself drawn to the promise of a new future."

Expect to see flashback sequences that follow Dunk as a young orphan living in Flea Bottom, spending time with his friend Rafe—a change from the novella, as Rafe is not mentioned in the book series until The Mystery Knight. Plus, the character has been seemingly gender-swapped (the book doesn’t explicitly gender the character, but they are assumed to be a boy because of their name) and is played by Dune: Prophecy star Chloe Lea.

We got some awesome photos earlier in the week at their scenes together:

But apart from the flashbacks, we’ll also get to see the trial of seven go down in Episode 5, and if you’ve read The Hedge Knight, you’ll know it’s going to include a surprise or two. Dunk’s skills will be put to the test like never before, and the results are going to have an everlasting impact on him.

With an episode this important, you might think “In the Name of the Mother” will be supersized, right? Well, not exactly, but it is one of the longer episodes of the season. Episode 5 runs for 37 minutes, which might not sound like a lot, but it will undoubtedly cover a lot of ground.
