It's been a significantly long wait, but we have finally made our way back to the world of Game of Thrones. The wait for House of the Dragon season 3 rages on, but the latest spinoff series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms drops us right into another intriguing tale in Westeros.

Based on the novellas centered on Dunk and Egg written by George R. R. Martin, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms stars Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell as the central characters. The series makes a significant change that Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon fans might not have been expecting. There are six episodes, and they aren't full hour-long episodes!

Even though there's less to enjoy, that doesn't mean we won't be completely obsessed with the next chapter of the Game of Thrones television franchise. But when does the series make its premiere, and what's the complete release schedule for all six episodes?

When does A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms premiere?

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms makes its premiere on HBO on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. In addition to airing on HBO every Sunday night at 10 p.m. across the coasts, the new episodes will also be available to stream on HBO Max at the same time.

HBO changes things up a bit compared to past airings of Game of Thrones series, which both typically aired Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT. However, even though A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will be on later than usual, the episodes aren't nearly as long.

Here are the lengths for all six episodes:

  • Episode 1 — 42 minutes
  • Episode 2 — 33 minutes
  • Episode 3 — 31 minutes
  • Episode 4 — 34 minutes
  • Episode 5 — 37 minutes
  • Episode 6 — 31 minutes

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 1 release schedule

As for when each episode of the first season will air on HBO, we shared the full release schedule below. The entire season won't be available to stream on HBO Max until every episode airs on HBO. There are no weeks with more than episode dropping as some streamers tend to do with new series. Only one episode will be released each week. Check out the schedule:

  • Episode 1 — January 18 at 10 p.m. ET
  • Episode 2 — January 25 at 10 p.m. ET
  • Episode 3 — February 1 at 10 p.m. ET
  • Episode 4 — February 8 at 10 p.m. ET
  • Episode 5 — February 15 at 10 p.m. ET
  • Episode 6 — February 22 at 10 p.m. ET

As of the show's premiere week, HBO hasn't shared if there will be any scheduling shifts to avoid conflict with the Super Bowl. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 1 episode 4 airs on Sunday, Feb. 8, which is the same day as the biggest football game of the year.

In the past when HBO has had major shows airing at the same time, the network has released the episodes early on streaming. The same could happen with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, so don't be surprised if episode 4 hits HBO Max sooner than Feb. 8.

We'll be sure to keep fans update on any schedule changes that impact A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. If anything, we have a feeling that HBO dropping an episode a bit earlier than expected won't be a change fans will have a problem with whatsoever!

Stay tuned for more A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms news, updates, recaps, and reviews from Winter is Coming! We will be covering the full season week-to-week once the series makes its premiere on Sunday, Jan. 18 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.
